The St. Martin Church of Christ, Inc. was established in 1960 under the leadership of the Rt. Rev. Father P.H. Franklin, D.D. Father traveled extensively throughout the country singing, teaching and preaching the gospel. He served as pastor in churches in Chicago, Illinois, Detroit, Michigan and Dallas, Texas. Franklin migrated to Baltimore in the late 1950's, bringing with him the late Mother Sarah F. Jackson. The Ministry's first home was the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue and later 405 Orchard Street in Baltimore, Maryland. The Radio Ministry was established at the Orchard Street Church and the St. Martin's Mass Choir was well known throughout Baltimore City. Many nationally known recording artists of that era frequented the church, including Mahalia Jackson and Cleophas Robinson.
The Church moved to its present location on Madison Avenue in 1974. Father Franklin served as its only pastor until his passing in May of 1994. Elder Jonathan McFadden was its second pastor and served from 1994 through 1997. After the abrupt passing of Elder McFadden in 1997, the ministry was without a pastor for two years and the trustee board served as the administrative arm of the ministry. The church was guided during this two-year period with assistance from its mother church, the Beth-El Temple Church of Christ, Inc.The late Apostle Robert Evans served as it spiritual guide and assisted the trustees in the selection of a new pastor.
On Palm Sunday 1999, the ministry was blessed with a new visionary pastor, Elder Kevin Daniels. The vision of St. Martin's has evolved and continues to progressively move forward under the administration of Dr. Daniels. The St. Martin's has forged a strong and enduring relations with the surrounding community.
A comprehensive and innovative strategic analysis has resulted in the birth of our core strategic directions "Moving From Healing to Wholeness" and three supporting strategic directions. The directions that will guide the St. Martin Church of Christ through the 21st Century are:
The ministry to the Lord (organizational structure order)
The ministry to the Saints (development training)
The ministry to the World (community outreach programs services)
